Dr. Tucci's lecture is titled "The Future of Research in Otolaryngology." It will take place in-person on December 8, 2022, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at UCSF's Byers Auditorium in Genentech Hall Building on the Mission Bay Campus. By the end of the lecture, participants will understand:

1) How the NIDCD can facilitate research training in otolaryngology
2) The importance of a diverse workforce and how NIDCD facilitates this
3) The new NIDCD strategic plan, and associated opportunities for research funded by the institute

When Dr. Tucci assumed the role of director in September 2019, she became the first woman in the role and the NIDCD's fourth director since its founding in 1988. Previously, she was on the faculty of Duke University Medical Center, where she co-founded the Duke Hearing Center. Dr. Tucci received her medical degree from the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine, completed residency at UVA and completed a fellowship in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery at the University of Michigan.

The Schindler Lectureship is an endowed program in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF OHNS) that was established in 2004 by Dr. Robert A. Schindler and Janet Feinberg Schindler. Dr. Schindler was Chairman of UCSF OHNS from 1989 to 1999.

We hope you can join us for Dr. Tucci's lecture on December 8.
