UCSF OHNS Welcomes New Fellows

The University of California, San Francisco Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (UCSF OHNS) is pleased to welcome four new fellows for the 2025-2026 year:

  • Autefeh Sajjadi - Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
  • Jennifer Silver - Laryngology
  • Weston Niermeyer - Head and Neck
  • Rajas Tipnis - Pediatrics
Autefeh Sajjadi

 

Autefeh Sajjadi is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She earned her undergrad from the University of California at Berkeley and attended Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska, for medical school.

Autefeh's research interests include advancing care and opportunities for those from disadvantaged backgrounds and meager economic means. Her research projects have included examining disparities in hearing screening and distributing head/neck oncologic educational materials to patients. Outside of academics, Autefeh enjoys snowboarding, reading, soccer, off-roading and hiking.

Jennifer Silver

 

Jennifer Silver, from Montreal, Quebec, studied at McGill University for her undergraduate and medical school degrees.

Her research primarily focused on Irritable Larynx Syndrome and the validation of the Reflux symptom. When she's not studying, Jennifer enjoys basketball, running, juggling and unicycling.

Weston Niermeyer

 

Weston Niermeyer is from Washington, DC. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Some of Weston's ongoing projects are implementing an outcomes registry in low-resource settings, conducting three delay model analyses in LMIC settings and assessing surgical capacity in Ethiopia. Further research interests include tracheostomy in patients under two years old, pediatric otolaryngology surgical outcomes and ergonomics in surgery. Outside of research, he enjoys racquet sports, personal finance, running, studying Swahili, hiking, SCUBA diving and travel planning.

Rajas Tipnis

 

Rajas Tipnis, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, studied at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB. He continued his medical education at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, London, ON. 

His research focuses on working in cell and molecular biology wet lab using multiple techniques and performing statistical analysis on date output. Radiation Oncology, CancerCare research, brain tumors, advanced stage oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, organ preservation therapy and spontaneous regression of mandibular myofibroma without surgical intervention are also areas of interest for Rajas.

Outside of the classroom, Rajas enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling and soccer.
