Dr. Montana Upton completed her fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Indiana University and will bring advanced expertise in facial reconstruction to UCSF. She will contribute to the department’s microvascular reconstruction practice at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
A Northern California native, Dr. Upton earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from UCLA, graduating cum laude. She continued her medical education at UCLA, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society and received the June and Sherman M. Mellinkoff, M.D., Medical Alumni Scholarship (2018–2019) and the Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship from the AMA Foundation. She completed her Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency training at Vanderbilt University, where she developed a strong foundation in clinical care, research, and education. During her residency, she authored six publications and delivered numerous poster and oral presentations.
At UCSF, Dr. Upton will contribute to the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with expertise in cancer reconstruction, facial nerve rehabilitation, aesthetic and cosmetic surgery—including rhinoplasty—and gender affirmation surgery.
