Chair's Update - Fall 2020: Heads Up!

I hope you are doing well in these incredible times and that you are staying safe while you continue in your mission to care for your patients.

We at UCSF have learned so much with regard to caring for our patients during this pandemic.

The latest issue of Head’s Up is available for you to read.

In addition, I hope you will consider joining us for our 2020 Virtual Management Strategies in Early and Late Stage Head and Neck Cancer course (chairs: Patrick Ha, MD, Ivan El-Sayed, MD, and Jonathan George, MD, MPH) on November 6-8, including our Multidisciplinary Management of Head and Neck Cancer- Maximizing Voice and Swallowing Outcomes seminar produced by Sarah Schneider and Joey Laus. https://ohns.ucsf.edu/events/management-strategies-early-and-late-stage-head-and-neck-cancer and https://www.ucsfcme.com/2021/MOT21005/info.html

I also wanted to make you aware of our residency match site this year. Because we have no in person interviews, we have had to improvise using virtual presentations to introduce prospective students to the culture of our program. I think you might enjoy a trip to our website to learn about the current state of our education programs through a residency focused lens. https://ohns.ucsf.edu/education/residency-program

Finally, I am sure you are aware of the US News rankings which rank otolaryngology-head and neck surgery programs. In order for you to participate in that survey, you must have a Doximity account. To participate in the upcoming survey which will be accomplished in 2021, registration with Doximity must be in place by October 30. If you are not registered, please consider creating an account for your personal use. This will give you the opportunity to vote in the next survey. Visit www.doximity.com to register or to check on your existing account.

Thank you for all you do for your patients. I hope to see you soon, either virtually or in person when it is safer to travel.
