UCSF Health has been recognized once again as one of the nation’s top-performing academic medical centers, earning high marks for patient care excellence in the 2025 Vizient Quality Leadership Ranking. This honor—awarded for the fourth consecutive year—marks UCSF Health’s unwavering commitment to delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care, and stands as a testament to the dedication of its staff and clinical teams.

UCSF Health: National Accolades

This year, UCSF Health placed 10th among 118 comprehensive academic medical centers assessed in Vizient’s rigorous Quality and Accountability Study, which evaluates hospitals on criteria including safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, and consistency of care. The study, one of the nation’s largest and most respected benchmarking processes, helps hospitals measure their performance against peers and highlights institutions that excel in quality and safety across the full spectrum of clinical services. Importantly, UCSF Health is the only public academic medical center to be recognized by all three major national benchmarking systems in 2025—Vizient, U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Honor Roll, and the CMS five-star rating—a distinction that underscores UCSF’s reputation for excellence.
