It promises to be a dynamic, comprehensive symposium for otolaryngologists, advanced practice providers, and allied professionals. This year’s program is notable for its broad mix of practical lectures, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops covering the latest in rhinology, facial plastics, laryngology, pediatric ENT, and more. Megan Durr MD, course co-organizer, highlights, “I’m thrilled about this year’s UCSF Otolaryngology Update, which will feature lectures on new and emerging topics that are directly relevant to our daily practice. From innovative surgical techniques to advances in diagnostics, each session is designed to challenge our thinking and spark ideas we can bring back to our clinics and operating rooms.”
The upcoming UCSF OtoUpdate stands out this year thanks to the presence of distinguished guest faculty members and keynote speakers who are leaders in the field of otolaryngology and health system leadership. Healthcare leadership is front and center through two keynote addresses. Dr. Rahul K. Shah, MD, MBA, who recently became the Executive Vice President (EVP) and CEO of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery will discuss “Healthcare Leadership – Anticipate, Contain, Generate.” Suresh Gunasekaran, MBA, President and CEO of UCSF Health, will continue the theme, discussing “Academic Health Systems – My Perspective” in a second keynote address.
The third guest faculty Robin W. Lindsay, MD, MBA, Associate Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Harvard Medical School and a physician and surgeon at Mass Eye and Ear. Dr. Lindsay will deliver lectures on the standardized approach to evaluation and management of the nasal valve, techniques in open versus closed rhinoplasty, and practical pearls for functional rhinoplasty—topics highly relevant to both clinical practice and research innovation.
