The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF OHNS) welcomes Kara Brodie, MD, to our faculty. Dr. Brodie will join the pediatric OHNS team.
Dr. Brodie, a distinguished alumna of UCSF OHNS, brings a wealth of experience and accolades to our faculty. As a former Chief Resident, she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. Her academic prowess was recognized with the prestigious Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship at UC Berkeley. She was also honored as a UC Berkeley Alumni Association Leadership Award Scholar, a testament to her innovative leadership. Her outstanding performance in medical school led to her election to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) and the receipt of an AOA Medical Student Service Leadership Award. She is also a proud member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Brodie comes to us most recently from Seattle Children's Hospital, affiliated with the University of Washington. She has a BA in Public Health, with Honors, from UC Berkeley. She then went on to the University of Cambridge where she earned a Master of Philosophy in Public Health. She attended the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) for medical school and UCSF for her OHNS residency.
Dr. Brodie's commitment to advancing the field of OHNS is evident in her extensive clinical research. Her work during residency has already resulted in numerous publications, with more coming soon. Her clinical interest in pediatric hearing loss aligns perfectly with our department's focus on hearing health. She will be instrumental in driving research in hearing screening in children and rehabilitation in the deaf and hard of hearing pediatric population. Dr. Brodie's primary clinical site will be at UCSF Benioff Oakland, but her contributions will extend across the entire UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals system.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Brodie to the UCSF OHNS team!
