UCSF OHNS Welcomes Ilya Likhterov, MD, to Our Faculty

Ilya Likhterov, MD, has joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (UCSF OHNS)! Dr. Likhterov has joined the team as an Associate Professor in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery Division at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive NCI Designated Cancer Center at UCSF. Dr. Likhterov is no stranger to the UCSF OHNS team: he completed his residency at UCSF in 2014, culminating in his Chief Residency. Dr. Likhterov is an accomplished microvascular reconstructive surgeon in addition to his oncologic surgery training.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at New York University and graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Likhterov also won the Wortis Prize for Excellence in Biology. His medical degree is from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, New York. He was awarded the Laurie Foundation Scholarship for all four years of medical school.

Dr. Likhterov was the recipient of the Julius R. Krevans Award during his internship in General Surgery. After residency, he completed a head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in New York. Dr. Likhterov remained on faculty at Sinai after fellowship and contributed to the New York Eye and Ear residency program, where he won the annual resident teaching award in 2016. In 2019, he became the oncologic and reconstructive surgery partner for a large single specialty group in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Likhterov has authored approximately 30 publications and has been the author of six book chapters.

In his role at UCSF, Dr. Likhterov will be the scheduled cancer center team member at our Parnassus campus, making clinical contributions at Mission Bay and our cancer center practice at the Berkeley Out Patient Center (BOPC).

Dr. Likhterov will work closely with our UCSF Transfer Center and the Parnassus Hospitalist Team to provide care for patients who require transfer to UCSF for tertiary services in the oncologic and reconstructive realm. Additionally, he will provide more convenient access to patients seeking care in the HDFCCC at our East Bay practice location.
