UCSF OHNS Welcomes Grace Banik, MD to Our Faculty

This month, the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF OHNS) is pleased to welcome Grace Banik, MD, to our faculty.

Dr. Banik comes to us from a fellowship at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is a graduate of Harvard College with a BA Cum Laude in Biochemical Sciences. She earned her MD with Honors and Distinction in Research from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Her residency training was at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).

Dr. Banik participated in the Harvard Stem Cell Institute Internship Program and received a Merck Summer Undergraduate Research Grant. She was the recipient of the James M. Ruegsegger Scholarship and the Dean's Summer Research Award at Case Western. At OHSU, she placed first or second for the Resident Research Award for 3 of 4 years. She won the Temporal Bone Award and was Resident Teacher of the Year. At CHOP, she was awarded a CLIME Educator Development Grant. Dr. Banik has contributed to 8 published papers and 12 research presentations.

Dr. Banik has an interest in medical education and has attended a leadership program at Harvard Medical School, which added to her educator portfolio. On the basic science side, she has experience from OHSU in tumor immunology as it pertains to head and neck cancer including pediatric thyroid cancer. Dr. Banik also has participated in administrative work to streamline equipment and supplies for OHNS and has worked on standardizing clinical pathways.
