UCSF OHNS Welcomes Caroline Schlocker, MD to Our Faculty

This month, the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF OHNS) is pleased to welcome Caroline Schlocker, MD to our faculty. Dr. Schlocker will be focusing her clinical practice at the UCSF Health Redwood Shores Specialty Care Clinic and also add effort at UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus and our other UCSF sites.

Dr. Schlocker comes to us from a full career in the United States Navy. Most recently, she was stationed at Naval Medical Center in San Diego where she was an assistant professor in the Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, Maryland. She was the associate residency program director and a member of the institutional review board.

Dr. Schlocker has experience in global health endeavors and in humanitarian operations. She holds a certificate in Global Health Engagement from USUHS. She graduated from Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 training at the Naval War College in Newport, RI.  She was the study site principal investigator (PI) for a study devoted to diagnostic and prognostic information in patients with mild traumatic brain injury. She was the PI on three additional investigatory protocols managed by the Naval Medical Center San Diego. Her navy awards include Rifle and Pistol Expert Marksmanship medals (among others). She was voted Teacher of the Year by the otolaryngology residents at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.

Dr. Schlocker's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Religion at Williams College. Her medical degree is from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. She completed her otolaryngology training at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego which she followed with an advanced otology fellowship.
