Congratulations to Jennifer Grandis, MD, who was recently named the 2023 John Conley Lecturer on Medical Ethics with the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAOHNS)! Dr. Grandis is a professor at the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF OHNS).

"I am honored to receive such recognition from our professional society for my work studying the underlying reasons we struggle to achieve our goals of diversity, equity and inclusion in medicine and science," said Dr. Grandis.

The award is named for Dr. Conley, an esteemed OHNS leader who was "dedicated to the highest standard of moral and ethical behavior from physicians," according to the AAOHNS website. Dr. Grandis will give the lecture at the opening ceremony of the AAOHNS annual fall meeting from on October 1, 2023, in Nashville.

"I think of this lecture as the highest and most prestigious named lecture for our national professional organization," said Andrew H. Murr, MD, FACS, UCSF OHNS professor and chairman. "I also can't think of a better person to be so honored. Congratulations to Dr. Grandis and mark your calendars for the event this fall."

Dr. Grandis is a passionate mentor in the department and recently shared her insights on mentorship.

She is an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professor and a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Association of Physicians and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
