Speech Language Pathologist
Royen Kent, MS, CCC-SLP, (he/him) is a Speech-Language Pathologist at the UCSF Voice and Swallowing Center at Mount Zion and Bayfront. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders, including vocal fold lesions, phonotrauma,

chronic cough, and neurogenic swallowing disorders. His clinical and scholarly interests include gender-expansive voice modification, singing voice rehabilitation, cricopharyngeal dysfunction, alaryngeal voice restoration, and inducible laryngeal obstruction.

Royen joined the UCSF Voice and Swallowing Center in 2024. He earned an undergraduate degree in Musical Theatre from Vanguard University and performed as a stage actor, singer, and musician in Chicago for 12 years. He then earned his graduate degree in Speech, Language, and

Learning at Northwestern University and completed his postgraduate clinical fellowship at Valley West Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility in Oregon. He has also practiced in outpatient clinics, public schools, academic medical centers, and private practices.

His professional affiliations include the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the association’s special interest groups for voice and swallowing disorders.
