Roseanne Krauter, FNP-BC, is a Nurse Practitioner III in the Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Department at UCSF Medical Center. The Nurse Practitioner III title is a designation awarded by UCSF Medical Center in recognition of research, educational, and mentorship activities. Ms. Krauter also holds an appointment in the University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Health Care Nursing.
Ms. Krauter received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She attended graduate school at Columbia University where she completed a second Bachelor of Science and a Master’s degree in Nursing. While at Columbia University she received the Nursing Alumni Scholarship Award, the Nursing Excellence in Genetic Studies Award, and Sigma Theta Tau Honors. She started her career as a Nurse Practitioner in Otolaryngology practice at Stanford Medical Center, where she was in practice from 2011 through 2015. She joined the UCSF Otology/neurotology team in 2015. Her expertise is in treating conditions including vertigo and dizziness disorders, hearing loss, chronic otitis media, skull base tumors, and general otolaryngology issues.
Ms. Krauter is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has volunteered as a medical provider in Cambodia and served as a consultant for otologic medical practices in Australia. She is active with the UCSF School of Nursing by precepting Nurse Practitioner students and lecturing for courses regularly. She has authored multiple articles published in peer-review journals and has been invited to present various Otolaryngology topics at academic meetings as well as community forums. She has contributed to research in genetic mutations related to sensory hearing loss, stem cell regeneration of inner ear hair cells, and CYP450 metabolism of select serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Her current research interests focus on vestibular migraine, treatment outcomes for vestibular migraine, and chronic dizziness/vestibular disorders.
