The Society of University Otolaryngologists (SUO) hosts its annual combined meeting with the Association of Academic Departments of Otolaryngology (AADO) and Otolaryngology Program Directors Organization (OPDO) on November 22-23, 2024 in Phoenix, AZ. This prestigious gathering brings together leading experts in academic otolaryngology to discuss cutting-edge research, share insights, and foster collaboration. The event covers a diverse range of topics, from medical education and physician burnout to surgical preparation techniques. UCSF faculty members contribute significantly to the conference program, showcasing their expertise in various aspects of academic otolaryngology.

Dr. Jack Resnick Jr., MD

On the first day of the conference, OPDO Chair Steven D. Pletcher, MD, welcomes the group while VyVy N. Young, MD, is a panelist in a session on advancing medical educators' careers. The second day's program features Jack Resneck Jr., MD, Chair and Bruce U. Wintroub Endowed Professor of Dermatology at UCSF School of Medicine, as the keynote speaker. His address focuses on reclaiming joy in the medical profession. UCSF resident Taylor Erickson, MD, participates in a panel exploring visualization and mental rehearsal as tools for surgical preparation. As the conference draws to a close, Andrew H. Murr, MD, FACS, is part of a panel discussion on feedback in mentoring and coaching. These presentations highlight UCSF's commitment to advancing medical education, addressing physician well-being, and improving surgical techniques in otolaryngology.
