On Thursday, December 5, the University of California, San Francisco Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (UCSF OHNS) hosted the Robert A. Schindler, MD Endowed Lectureship in Otology. This year's annual lecturer was Yuri Agrawal, MD, MPH, FACS of the University of Colorado. Dr. Agrawal spoke on her journey in academic medicine and the lessons she's learned from the lab. She lectured on the vestibular system and its impact in older patients.
Dr. Agrawal is Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado. She is an Otologist-Neurotologist and has several NIH grants studying vestibular loss and cognition in older adults. She serves as the Education Director of the American Neurotology Society, a Director on the American Academy of Otolaryngology's Board of Directors, a Council Member of the American Board of Otolaryngology, Treasurer-Elect of the Triological Society and a Past-President of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology.
The Endowed Lectureship was established in 2004 by UCSF OHNS, Dr. Robert A. Schindler and Janet Feinberg Schindler. Dr. Schindler was Charmain of UCSF OHNS from 1989 to 1999. The lectureship celebrates his legacy left on students and faculty while at UCSF OHNS and welcomes different guests to lecture on their academic careers.
