Title:
Using natural language processing to chart the development of spoken language in children who are deaf/hard-of-hearing

Learning objectives:

  1. Describe how speech and language outcomes are measured in children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, and where current clinical assessment falls short.
  2. Evaluate what natural language processing adds to outcome tracking, along with its limitations for pediatric and atypical speech.
  3. Discuss how objective, longitudinal language measures could inform clinical decision-making around candidacy, device management, and follow-up.
