Learning objectives:

  1. To bring the audience up to date regarding available data on the Sentinel Node Biopsy technique as a less invasive option, and an option for increased accuracy of staging, in early cancer of the Oral Cavity. To discuss the pros and cons of a sentinel node biopsy based approach versus a selective neck dissection based approach.
  2. To familiarize the audience to the nuances of the sentinel node biopsy surgical technique as applied to squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity.
  3. To Introduce the new ongoing randomized trial through NRG studying Sentinel Node Biopsy for early oral Cancer.
