Signaling Program Improves Efficiency of Residency Interview Offers

As part of a task force within the Otolaryngology Program Director's Organization Council, UCSF OHNS's Steven Pletcher, MD adopted and implemented a system which allows applicants to signal residency programs of particular interest and provides programs with valuable information when selecting candidates to interview. The findings of this first application of signaling in medicine were recently published in Academic Medicine.

OHNS Resident and Team Win $50,000 Grant for Their Healthcare Invention

Nicole Jiam, MD, a fifth-year resident at UCSF OHNS, is part of a team that has been awarded the National Science Foundation Innovation Corporation Research Grant. The award consists of $50,000 and an intensive seven-week program to help the team translate the clinically meaningful digital health product into the marketplace.

Nicole Jiam, MD Matches into Highly Competitive Program

Current fifth year UCSF OHNS resident Nicole Jiam, MD has successfully matched into the neurotology fellowship program at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School! This is an incredible and well-deserved accomplishment, in a match year where only 16 positions were available nationwide for 31 applicants in Neurotology. Dr. Jiam will complete the two-year program gaining practical experience in advanced otologic and neurotologic methods and procedures under the stewardship of program director Daniel J. Lee, MD, FACS.
