Jennifer Grandis, MD is Chosen for the Inaugural UCSF WPSS 2022 Speaker Series

This year, UCSF Women Physician-Scientist Supergroup (WPSS) is introducing their inaugural speaker series with the goal of sharing insight and perspectives from careers in academic science and medicine, with a focus on women in science, women in medicine and the physician scientist career pathway. UCSF OHNS is pleased to announce that Jennifer Grandis, MD, distinguished professor, was selected as a speaker from a superb slate of 41 nominated candidates.

OHNS's Dr. Jeffrey Sharon Among the 2022 UCSF Catalyst Awardees

Congratulations to UCSF OHNS's Jeffrey Sharon, MD, who was recently announced as one of the 2022 Catalyst Awardees! Dr. Sharon is an assistant professor in the Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery division and the director of the Balance and Falls Center. Dr. Sharon was selected for his project, "Development and Validation of a Machine Learning Based Smartphone Application for Point of Care Vestibular Testing."

Two UCSF OHNS Members Receive UCSF Health Exceptional Physician Award

Congratulations to Patrick Ha, MD, and Elizabeth Shuman, MD, two members of UCSF OHNS who have been named recipients of the 2021-22 UCSF Health Exceptional Physician Award! Dr. Ha is a professor and the chief of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery, and Dr. Shuman is a resident physician.

Dr. Charles Limb Named to the Kennedy Center Next 50 List

Charles Limb, MD, has been selected as one of the Kennedy Center Next 50, a list of 50 leaders and organizations that "are lighting the way forward" through multi-disciplinary work. The Kennedy Center Next 50 is part of the Center's 50th-anniversary celebration and includes artists, cultural leaders, arts organizations, community members, health care workers and more. Dr. Limb was selected, in part, due to his work on the neural basis of musical creativity and music perception in cochlear implant users.

Katherine Wai, MD, fifth-year chief resident at UCSF OHNS was announced as a winner of a 2021 UCSF Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Fall 2021 Resident Research Funding Award.

Dr. Charles Limb Honored as NIH Distinguished Clinical Research Scholar and Educator in Residence

Charles Limb, MD, has been selected as the 2022 "National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Distinguished Clinical Research Scholar and Educator in Residence." Dr. Limb is a professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF OHNS).

The 2021 Robert A. Schindler, MD Lecturer and visiting professor is Howard W. Francis, MD, MBA, FACS of the Duke University Health System. Dr. Francis is the Richard Hall Chaney, Sr., Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology and the chair of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery and Communication Sciences.
