
Marika D. Russell, MD, is an Associate Professor in the division of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco’s Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS). She is the Chief of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Russell received her medical degree from Columbia University in New York, and she completed both a one-year General Surgery internship and a residency in Otolaryngology at UCSF. Her clinical area of expertise is in thyroid/parathyroid surgery, including surgeon-performed ultrasound. Dr. Russell is a national leader in head and neck ultrasound education.
Dr. Russell’s research interests include outcomes and disparities in the treatment of benign and malignant conditions of the head and neck.
Dr. Russell is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Head and Neck Society, the American Thyroid Association, and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
