Operative Experience: Fellow will work with Drs. Clark RosenĀ and VyVy Young as part of a multidisciplinary center designed to serve patients with voice and swallowing disorders. The fellow acts as attending surgeon in educating Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residents, as well as directly with attendings in the OR. Surgical experience includes an average of 225 major cases, including: microdirect laryngoscopy with microflap excision of lesions, CO2 laser removal of papilloma, CO2 laser excision of laryngeal carcinoma, vocal fold injection medialization, vocal fold suture lateralization and CO2 laser posterior cordotomy for bilateral vocal fold paralysis, microdirect subglottoscopy with CO2 laser incisions for subglottic stenosis, type I throplasty and arytenoid adduction, tracheal resection and reanastamosis, crico-pharyngeal myotomy.
Research: Clinical research is expected.
Call Responsibilities: Call 1 week every 10-12 weeks: 5 weeks/year. Privileges also at San Francisco General Hospital and Veterans Administration Medical Center to facilitate call.
Qualifications: OHNS Surgical Residency in an approved USA center, or equivalent training outside the USA; Commitment to an academic career in Laryngology/OHNS; Ablilty to obtain California Medical License.
