The UCSF Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is proud to offer a broad array of medical student clerkships. Otolaryngology 140.01 P - Parnassus

This clerkship is in general otolaryngology - head and neck surgery and includes the diagnosis and treatment of facial plastic and reconstructive, neurotologic, rhinologic, otologic, and laryngolic problems common head and neck disorders. Both inpatient and outpatient experiences will be offered.

Objectives

  • To learn about and participate in the evaluation and treatment of basic otolaryngologic problems in the inpatient, consult, and emergency setting

Otolaryngology 140.01 S - SFGH

This clerkship is in general otolaryngology - head and neck surgery (OHNS) and includes the diagnosis and treatment of common head and neck disorders. Both inpatient and outpatient experiences will be offered.

Objectives

  • To learn about and participate in the evaluation and treatment of basic otolaryngologic problems in the inpatient, consult, emergency, and outpatient setting
  • To learn about the particular needs and concerns of special patient populations including HIV-infected patients, and alcohol and drug dependent individuals

  • Inpatient, outpatient, and operative management of the full spectrum of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery
  • Emphasis is in clinic evaluation and treatment of common disorders

Otolaryngology 140.01 M - Mission Bay

This clerkship includes the diagnosis and treatment of common and complex pediatric otolaryngology disorders as well as diagnoses, treatment and reconstruction of head and neck neoplasms, head and neck cancer treatment and reconstruction. Both inpatient and outpatient experiences will be offered. (Offered as a two-week, advanced elective).

Objectives

  • To learn about and participate in the evaluation and treatment of patients with head and neck cancers
  • To learn about and participate in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric patients with otolaryngic disorders
