Joey Laus, MS, CCC-SLP is a Senior Speech Language Pathologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders. She has specialized training and certification in the utilization of advanced instrumentation for diagnostics and treatment. Laus possesses a Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologists (CCC-SLP).
Ms. Laus joined the UCSF Department of Otolaryngology at the Voice and Swallowing Center and Head and Neck Surgical Oncology in 2008. She is part of a team of otolaryngologists, speech language pathologists, radiation and medical oncologists, dieticians and social workers, which forms a specialty practice in speech and swallowing rehabilitation. Her clinical interests include speech and swallowing outcomes following surgery or chemoradiation for head and neck cancer.
Ms. Laus earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Communication Sciences and Disorders in Athens, Ga., and her master's degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she was recognized for clinical excellence. Before joining UCSF, she worked at the Evelyn Trammell Voice and Swallowing Center at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Ms. Laus's professional affiliations include the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), ASHA's Voice and Voice Disorder Special Interest Group SIG 3, and ASHA's Swallowing Disorder Special Interest Group SIG 13.
