Choosing The Right Plastic Surgeon

You might be asking yourself, "How do I know how to choose the right plastic surgeon?"

The most common question that I get asked at parties or family groups (other than, jokingly asked if I think they need a nose job) is, I usually start by asking them if they are sure of the kind of procedure they want to have; and, how they learned about plastic surgery.

When choosing the right plastic surgeon, you should have a general idea of what you would like to have done, whether it's aging of your face or eyes or the shape of your nose. This way you are able to ask the doctor the right questions so that he/she can give you an accurate idea of what may be needed. Your surgeon should be able to thoroughly discuss with you detailed information about the procedure(s) and the options available to you.

Secondly and very importantly, make certain that your surgeon is well trained and has completed a fellowship at a reputable institution. All of that information should be readily available. As facial plastic surgeons, Drs. Knott and Seth are highly trained with over seven years of residency and fellowship at the reputable Cleveland Clinic and UCLA, operating on every dimension of the face, head and neck. This has provided them an intricate knowledge of expertice of the entire face, head and neck, giving you the trust you need in a surgeon. Also, board certification is critical. Further, you should check that your surgeon is well published and stays on top of the latest developments in the field.

We usually recommend more than one opinion prior to scheduling any appointment. It is important that you like and trust your surgeon. We believe that a good relationship between the doctor and the patient is key to an outstanding result.
