Rotating Students Funding Support

We encourage URM applicants to apply for the following grants to support their rotation at UCSF:

  • UCSF School of Medicine Visiting Elective Scholarship Program
  • The Visiting Elective Scholarship Program supported by the UCSF School of Medicine was established to encourage fourth year medical students who are underrepresented in medicine or are interested in working with diverse populations to apply for a clinical elective at UCSF. AAO-HNS Diversity Endowment URM Away Rotation Grant

  • Sponsored by the AAO-HNS Diversity and Inclusion Committee, this grant provides the winner $1000 to use towards travel, housing or food during their away rotation. For more information and the application:

Additionally, pending applications to the above programs, the UCSF Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery will provide additional financial assistance up to $1500, to defray the cost of housing and travel to outstanding underrepresented minorities accepted into the Visiting Medical Student Clerkship Program. If you would like to be considered for this program, please send an email to Bren Ahearn at Brendan.Ahearn@ucsf.edu by June 5, 2018 for Summer/Fall 2018 electives. Bren will pull your records from VSAS, and the medical student education faculty will determine the recipients. Recipients will be required to provide receipts for reimbursement.
